Grandfather Mountain celebrates the birthdays of all the animals in the park with games, contests, crafts, and surprises. Grandfather’s habitat staff has prepared a fun-filled day for guests as well as programming to celebrate our furry inhabitants.

June 21 Beech Mountain: A Cool 5 Race
An annual race started in 2006, the Cool 5 Race is a fundraising effort for differing community projects. Fundraising efforts have funded the Lake Coffey handicapped fishing pier, Fireman's Park, and other parks and trail efforts through out Beech Mountain.

June 22 90th annual Singing on the Mountain
“Singing” is a day-long gospel sing and fellowship featuring a dozen top gospel groups and sermon from a well known speaker. Held out-of-doors in a meadow at the base of Grandfather Mountain, music begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day with a break at mid-day for the sermon. Many families bring lawn chairs and picnics and make a day of seeing old friends and enjoying performances by top Southern Gospel groups.

July 5 Beech Mountain's 47th Annual Roasting of the Hog
Beech Mountain is home to one of the High Country’s premier Independence Day Celebrations, the 47th Annual Roasting of the Hog. The hog is roasted all day to perfection and cut up right in front of the crowd. Music, games, a silent auction and treats are accompanied by both indoor and outdoor seating, making this the perfect event for all ages.

It's a Beech Mountain celebration of biking and beer drinking! The weekend kicks off Friday evening with live music in the Alpine Village. Saturday, make a run for it, with our second annual hash run. Bike racing will occur throughout the day for racers and spectators.
