This is a special place. Created by Fred and Marge Pfhol (owners of Fred's General Mercantile) for visiting family and friends during the summer months, The Guest Quarters gives you a unique combination of setting, decor, and personal touch that reflect the tone and personality of Beech Mountain.

You'll find The Guest Quarters upstairs in the annex of Fred's General Mercantile. The entrance greets you with an antique stained glass window… and the interior surrounds you with fine wood paneling and stonework, architecturally blended into a perfect balance of space and intimacy. Sunrise windows and skylights wash "the quarters" with a cheerful light, while vaulted ceilings reflect the expansive feeling of this mountain setting.

The furnishings invite you to stay a while… to put your feet up and just bask in the comfort and quiet. There are comfortable couches, a glass-door wood stove just begging for a cheery blaze… a well equipped kitchen waiting with everything from the corkscrew to the microwave… And two bedrooms, each waiting to lull you to sleep in king-sized beds.

And you won't be able to escape the feeling that this was designed to be home (even if its only for a night or two). There are the little touches like lovely wall-paper and fine wood fixtures in the bath… the quaint border trims in the bedrooms, that let you count ducks or skiers instead of sheep… the accent of hand-woven baskets… and the subtle way it all comes together, giving you the feeling the effort was made just for you.

That special feeling continues in service that simply pampers you,  the attention to your every need. And, if you aren't familiar with this mountain world, the way your hosts will bend over backwards to help you get the most from your vacation. They'll give you information on where to go and what to see… including all the wonderful places that very often escape the usual visitor.

You'll also discover that there is simply no better location on the mountain. Your next door neighbor is Fred's General Mercantile, piled with a little bit of everything… and complemented with a scrumptious deli, a market (with beer and wine sales), and ski rentals for the slopes of Ski Beech (to which there is a slope access just a short walk away). During the winter months, guests of "the quarters" will enjoy equipment rental discounts at our Ski Shop.

Just one short stay at The Guest Quarters will convince you that there is quite simply no other way to experience the High Country. To put it quite simply, The Guest Quarters is really the small jewel on Beech Mountain.

*Minimum Stay - Two Nights
(above rates based on 4 persons per night)
50% deposit on all advance reservations
Additional 13% Tax  will be collected on the amounts above
 (6% Occupancy Tax, 7% State tax)
